The Paul English Jazz Quartet in Concert: A Tribute to Chick Corea

Alta Arts is pleased to announce an evening of live music featuring the Paul English Jazz Quartet in a tribute to the late great jazz musician, Chick Corea. The quartet will perform a selection of Corea’s works from 7:30 pm through 9:00 pm, on Thursday, May 13 at Alta Arts.

Chick Corea began his musical career in the 1960’s, performing with giants of the time including Mongo Santamaria, Stan Getz, and the Miles Davis Band. Over the course of his long and prolific career, the pianist won twenty-five Grammy awards for his contributions to Jazz, and collaborated with countless musicians across genres. Of Corea, Paul English writes: 

“Chick Corea is one of the most influential jazz musicians of all time – and certainly one of the most influential musicians in my life. I have joyfully included his music in my performances for over 40 years.”

The Paul English Quartet features long-time Houston jazz leader and pianist, Paul English, along with David Caceres on saxophone and vocals, Rankin Peters on bass and vocals, Tim Solook on drums. For this performance, the Quartet will be joined by special guest vocalist Elizabeth Tait. 

This is a ticketed event. Tickets are available online at  www.thealtaarts.org/live only, and will not be available at the door. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served, and food will be available for purchase from the Hearsay Restaurant food truck. Valet parking will be available free of charge.
