Sharpstown Prize for Architecture Film Presentation

Wednesday, May 11, 2022

We are pleased to announce that the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston will host the premiere of a film about the Sharpstown Prize for Architecture – a project commissioned by Alta Arts founder Michael S. Prentice.  The film was produced and directed by Travis Meaders of Missio Films.

Distinguished Professor of Architecture Rafael Longoria will moderate a discussion of the film with Mr. Prentice, Mr. Meadors and winning architect Tanmay Thakker.  A reception, hosted by the College of Architecture, will take place immediately after.

The Sharpstown Prize for Architecture was created in 2017 by Prentice to challenge graduate level architecture students to design a single-family residence with modern and progressive materials while adhering to the appropriate deed restrictions.  Unlike similar architectural competitions, this one was unique in that the prize was the actual building of the home based on the winning entry.

RSVP at info@thealtaarts.org

Please note: that this event will not occur at Alta Arts.  The film presentation, panel discussion and reception will be held at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture located at 4200 Elgin, Houston TX 77204.  There is a self-pay parking garage adjacent to this building.  The film and discussion will take place in the theater on the ground floor.  The reception, will be held on the third floor.
