Houston’s own David Adickes is not only a world-renowned painter and sculptor, but also a composer, author and playwright. On Saturday, January 21, the Paul English Jazz Quartet and special guests present a preview of some of his original music from his stage musical, “Picasso”. Coincidentally, its also his 96th birthday!
First you’ll hear some jazz with Paul English (piano), David Caceres (sax), Rankin Peters (bass) and Tim Solook (drums). Then they will be joined by the ladies of SASS – Becky Williams, Sharon Montgomery and Gig Welling Nitzberg – plus Sam Jenkins Gandy (vocals) and the inimitable Horace Alexander Young on vocals in the character of Maestro Picasso himself. You will hear some of the wonderfully whimsical songs of this highly entertaining tale of one of the greatest artists of all time.
