West Houston view from Gulf Bldg.
Purchase for
$850
Looking west from the top of the Gulf building, Sam Houston Hall is prominent with its stripped roof. Built in just six months it would house the 1928 National Democratic Convention and lasted until the 1936 Texas Centennial was over. Sam Houston Coliseum replaced it and today the Hobby Center for Performing Arts sits on the location. Dead center is Hermann square with Sanctuary status. Next to it is a traveling carnival where city hall stands today. Image made in 1932. Can you find the elephants?
